Kelowna Sports
Programs
The City of Kelowna provides various sport opportunities for adults to get and stay active. Whether you are interested in trying a new sport with an instructor, looking to get back to playing an old sport casually or wanting to compete for bragging rights in a league, we have you covered.
City of Kelowna sport programs and leagues are participation focused. They are hosted in welcoming and inclusive environments at economical prices to ensure everyone can get into the game.
Most programs are for open age (18+) and co-ed, however, some programs are designed for a specific age group or gender to maintain a consistent level of play and promote player safety.
The City of Kelowna recognizes gender expression and identity is on a spectrum. Participants are encouraged to register for programs and leagues as they self-identify.
Learn to Play
Learn to Play programs help participants work on various aspects of their game through a mixture of direct instruction and game play. Over the course of three or more sessions, participants move through a variety of skills and drills while working on game strategy through competition with other participants around the same skill level. All programs are co-ed.
Program examples include tennis, pickleball, skating and ice hockey.
Register & Play
Register and Play programs are weekly, organized pick-up games. They are self-officiated and focus on friendly competition. Register in advance to secure your spot as space may be limited depending on the facility/program. Registered players must be at the facility 10 minutes prior to the program start to hold their spot. Drop-in players may fill open spots depending on the facility/program. All programs are co-ed unless otherwise stated.
Program examples include basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, table tennis, badminton, netball, soccer and more!
Drop-in
Most Register and Play programs have a few drop-in spaces available for those who are unable to register in advance or who have been placed on the waitlist. These spaces are not guaranteed and participants may be turned away if the program is at capacity.
Additionally, weekly drop-in schedules are available to work on your skills or play casual games. These are first come, first serve. Space is limited. Participants are to arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
