Smoking & alcohol
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all Kelowna parks, including beaches, trails, playgrounds, sports fields and stadiums. It’s also prohibited to use e-cigarettes and cannabis in parks and public spaces. There are two bylaws regulating smoke-free parks and enforcement: Parks & Public Spaces Bylaw & Ticket Information Utilization Bylaw.
- Please respect other users and withhold from smoking/vaping.
- Smoking is not to be done on the field of play; including by those self-officiating.
- Use the designated smoking area at your field/complex if you need to smoke.
Alcohol
The City of Kelowna provides concession services, including liquor sales, at some locations through independent contractors who hold a valid liquor license. Liquor sales align with the specific liquor license requirements at these locations.
- Outside alcohol consumption prior to, during, or after the game at a licensed or non-licensed game location or parking area is not permitted and is a criminal offense.
- At licensed facilities, alcohol is not to be brought onto the field of play.
- Participants are encouraged to consume responsibly at licensed facilities and plan their travel arrangements ahead of time.
Teams can refuse to play against teams that are in violation of the above policies at the game site and will be awarded the win if such a rule violation has taken place and is reported. There is zero tolerance on the “No Outside Alcohol Rule” at licensed facilities. Teams found in violation of this rule will face suspension/expulsion. There will be no return of league fees in this case.
