Who can contact the League Coordinator?
Only team captains are to contact the League Coordinator as a representative of your team.
How do we contact the other team?
Team captains are able to start a chat with another team’s captain directly through their TeamLinkt app by going into the specific game details and selecting Create Chat.
Who umpires the game?
Teams are required to umpire the game when they are batting. The person umpiring should be familiar with the City house league rules. Judgement calls (safe, out, etc.) are not protestable.
Can alcohol be brought to the field?
Alcohol is not allowed on the field or in the dugout at any game. Outside alcohol is not allowed at any licensed facility (Mission Softball Complex) and consumption of alcohol in a non-licensed public place is illegal and enforceable by the RCMP.
How do we know if the fields are closed?
Teams will receive a notification message through the TeamLinkt app after 3 p.m. if the fields have been closed by the City of Kelowna and games are cancelled.
The City of Kelowna also has a dedicated hotline that will list the fields that are closed for the day due to rain/flooding. A field that is not listed is considered open for play.
The hotline number is 250-469-8503 ext. 2
How do we re-schedule a game that was cancelled by the City?
The team captains need to discuss potential options that work for both teams prior to connecting with the league coordinator. Organizers require at least 24 hours’ notice to schedule your game. Do not inquire for same day games.
As most City leagues are full, playing on your normal night of play may not be possible. It is recommended make-up games are done as soon as possible.
What time do the lights turn off at all fields?
Lights are set by the City of Kelowna based on usage. The lights at all fields are shut off at 11:15 p.m. in accordance with City bylaw.
Teams should plan for this and end or shorten their game in advance of the lights going off so they can safely exit the facility.
Games that start on time and keep pace should have no issues with completing their games in the timeframe with adequate time to pack up and leave.
Is there a light motion sensor at East Kelowna Softball Complex on the diamonds?
Yes. After 15 minutes of inactivity at home plate, the motion sensor will shut the lights off. They will also turn back on if motion is detected.
What if a score correction is required?
If the score was incorrectly reported, please reach out via chat to the other team’s captain to notify them that a change is required.
